My favorite store

My favorite store is Village Vanguard which is also called exciting book store. There are not only interesting books but also character goods, imported goods and so on. It has a lot of interesting goods. Even not feel like buying anything, I could spend good time by just looking the goods at the store. As far as I know, Youme town Hamasen, PARUCO, Diamond City Value and Clare have Village Vanguard in Kumamoto. I am going to introduce an interesting good which is sold there. In this season, you can get an unlucky mystery bag. Not a lucky bag. It is an unlucky bag. There are some black comedy goods in the bag. I don’t know what the black comedy goods are. I am interested in it but I never buy it.

My favorite candy

I think my favorite candy is Ichigo Miruku. It tastes strawberry milk as you find out from the name. The shape is a small triangle and the color is soft pink. The inside of it is colored white and it tastes milk. I like strawberry milk and strawberry yogurt tasted candy, but I don’t like just strawberry tasted one. Also, I don’t feel like eating candies tasted cola, pop or something now. However, I used to like them before. When I was a school kid, I often bought some candies which looked like toys and tasted pop and cola. I remember I was happy when my mother bought the candies for my sisters and me. I used to eat them with sticky hands because of the candies.

I am going to talk about transportation of Halifax. There are no public transportation in Halifax. I mean bus service is not available there. However, there is a city bus running between Halifax and Dartmouth. The start fare is 2 dollars. Students of SMU can use campus bus. They have to buy the bus tickets for a year by 100 dollars. That's why, cars and bicycles are necessary for life. Halifax is a port town, so there are a lot of aquatic vehicles. If you want to travel outside of Halifax, you should use airplanes. According to Mio N, a senior of KGU, for domestic trip, you should use West Jet, and for International trip, Air Canada is good. Between Halifax Airport and SMU, you can use taxi for $53 or air porter for $21. Both of them take 30 minutes.

About last weekend

Last Friday, I had Christmas party at English Lounge. Ayano, Yusuke san and I were the MCs, so we didn't join some games but the party was so great! I had a good time. On Saturday, I had a make-up class in that morning. After that, I went to Mr. Waterman's house for Christmas party with Megumu, Chonchon san, Clark and Jonah. I was surprised when we got to his house because the apartment was that I lived in when I was little. I felt natsukashii. We did a game, Tokyo Train. My partner was Mr. Waterman. We won once. Chonchon san and Clark were a good team. They won every time. Mrs. July's pizza was great. Yesterday, I went to Costoco in Fukuoka with Ayano, Jonah, Jordan, Pudding, Clark, Ian and Chonchon san. I drove. I felt kind of nervous at first.

My favorite class

My favorite class in KGU is history of American literature. The teacher is professor Mukai Kumiko. She tells us not only American literature but also some bits of knowledge such as about common knowledge of ancient America. We can watch some movies but not all parts of them at the class. We watched a lot of literature-related movies. One of them that I really liked is Adventure of Huckleberry Finn. Huck that Elijah Wood played was so lovely and pretty. Also, the story was great. That’s why I looked for the DVD and bought it by Amazon. Professor Mukai showed us it from beginning to ending for letting us write reports in the spring term. In this term, we wrote reports about The Great Gatsby. That was kind of difficult.

Ice skating & MK

I went ice skating with Eri, Megumu, Ayano, Chonchon san, Risa san, Natsumi san, Mira, Yusen, Yuna, Senshu and Jonah yesterday. We got together at the Seven eleven near Kenritsu gekijo around 11:00. We went to a skating rink ASPA in Kikuyo. We started skating around 12:00. I have ever skated before, but that was about 8 years ago, so at first, I couldn't slide at all. Even standing on the rink was so hard. However, before I changed the figure shoes to ice hockey shoes, I could slide. We made one long line and slide each other like a train. That was so funny. Some people first skated at that time but they finally could slide. I fell many times and bruised. Also, I had the skin on my ankles were peeled because of rubbing against the skating shoes. I had pain on my feet but I really enjoyed skating. After that, we went to MK, a shabushabu restaurant. I was starving, so I ate a lot!

My favorite sport

My favorite sport is tennis. I am not good at any ball games but I like playing tennis. The reason why I like playing tennis is the sound of hitting a ball makes me feel great. I have never belonged to any clubs in my high school days but I chose a tennis class every elective subject at P.E. I also took a tennis class in both spring and autumn terms last year. I was not a good player but I enjoyed playing games. As I told you, my favorite sport is tennis but the other way, I mean as watching, I like soccer. I watched the World Cup in South Africa. I didn’t expect the Japanese team survived to the best 16. The games were awesome.

These days

I am going to tell you about these days. I went to Tosu with my family last Tuesday. Actually, I drove all time at that day. I mean, I drove from home to Tosu, and from Tosu to home. I drive a car almost every day, however, after I got the driver's license, I first used a highway. Also, I usually use the small car, and at that time, I used the big car (for family size). I was kind of nervous, but I could drive. On the front seat, My father was sitting and he sometimes advised me. I could have a little confidence. I think I can drive by myself next time.

This time, I am going to tell you about the climate of Halifax. Halifax is placed on the East of Canada. You know, of course it's pretty cold in winter season. The average highs of Janualy and February are under 0 centigrade. You shoud put on clothes as much as possible when you go outside in winter. Gloves and earmaffs are necessary. The Average depths of snow on ground are 8.6 cm. The other side, summer season in halifax is warm. The average highs of June and September are 19 centigrade. The ones of July and August are 23 centigrade. However, according to the exchange students from Saint Mary's University, a few years ago, the hottest day was 40 centigrade! Unbelievable! Halifax has over 100 days of mist or fog each year.

My favorite flower

I like tulips the best of all kind of flowers. The shape of petals looks like fairy’s dress, so they are lovely. Their smell is also sweet. I went to Huis Ten Bosch last spring and I saw a lot of tulips there. I guess most of Japanese people think that tulips came from Holland originally. However, they actually came from Turkey. In the 1550s, they spread across Europe. The 17th century is the tulip boom in Holland. The code of tulip differs with the colors. Red ones’ is Declaration of love. Yellow ones’ is Hopeless love, and white ones’ is My lost love. Purple ones’ is Forever love, and Pink ones’ is Honest love. All of them are connected with love. My favorite color of tulip is red.

Trials of America

America has the jury system. There are a lot of lawyers in America. There are a lot of kind of lawyers who specialize in their each line. It is necessary for both the plaintiffs and the defendants to choose which lawyers are good for them. The reason why the company which was accused of sexual harassment by Josey chose a female lawyer was in order to captivate the jury and judge. The company didn’t want Josey to win the suit because they felt like she took away their job and authority, so they thought a female lawyer was a good point to let her defend them. They want to show off that they are kind to women. Fortunately, Josey had a good lawyer, so she could give the courage to stand up to her coworkers. Finally, how to convey someone’s feelings to the jury is the most important for a trial in America. Also, The citizen judge system started in Japan. The citizen judges should not make a decision based on emotion.

MY favorite drink

My favorite drink is tea without sugar. I used to like juice, pop when I was a kid but since when I became a high school student, I got to avoid stuff like them. Also, I put in sugar when I drink tea before but I never put it in tea now. I want to taste real flavor of tea. Of course I like barley tea, green tea and oolong tea too. When I went to Thailand this summer, I drank barley tea. I was surprised that it tasted so sweet. It was with sugar. I am sure tea without sugar is the best. I told you my favorite drink is tea but I usually take drinking water. Drinking water is cheap in Japan and healthy because non sugar.

My favorite singer

I like R&B and POP music. My favorite singers are Stevie Hoang, Mariah Carey, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Rihanna and so on. Among of all my favorite singers, Stevie Hoang is the best for me these days. He was born in Birmingham, U.K. His parents are from Vietnam. His songs are awesome. The lyrics, melodies, his voice are all perfect. They sound like kind of sad and painful but sweet and soft. I recommended his songs to my friends, then, they really looked pleased. I borrowed his album to them. I always listen to foreign music but I sometimes listen to Japanese ones. My favorite Japanese singes are Nakashima Mika, Utada Hikaru, Kato Miliyah, Tommy Heavenly, Oikawa Rin and so on.

123

My favorite shoes

I like boots without high heels the best of all kinds of shoes. I like high heels but I avoid getting into them as much as possible because my feet hurt when I wear them. Boots make me look like fashionable. I have more than 15 shoes and the half of them is boots. For example, 3 mouton boots, western boots, knee-high boots and so on. All of them are less than 3000 yen though. Rather than buy expensive one, I want a lot of kinds. I always choose one of them which go with the coordinate. My favorite boots is dark-brown fringed mouton one. It is easy to coordinate with whatever I put on. That’s why I often use it.

We sat different sheets but we sometimes talked to each other. Maako, Eri, Kozue, Ayako and I ate a lot. I like beef KARUBI. We ordered the addiction next by next. We didn't drink any alcohol. About 9 years ago, my father took her. He said she was following him to home. I was so happy to get a dog. The name, Patie, I suggested was liked by my sisters, so we decided to call her Patie. I prefer movies about dogs. I like Marley and Me, Beethoven. When I watched Marley and Me, I laughed, shed tears, and I was moved. After I saw it, I thought I had to be kind to Patie. After coming back to Kumamoto city, Eri, Ayano and I will stay with Megumu and the next day, we will go to the school festival. I didn't go last year, so I decided to go this year at least one day. We also go to the downtown in order to go shopping after that. On next Sunday, we will take part in the Halloween party, so we want costumes for it. Also, I want to buy some clothes because I need more fall and winter clothes. It will be my first time to join a Halloween party, so I am very looking forward to it. My favorite elementary school memory

I am going to tell you about my favorite elementary school memory. When I was in the lower grade, I lived in Amakusa. We moved to Kumamoto city about ten years ago. The elementary school where I used to go in Amakusa had only one classes each grade. I liked playing tag, hide-and-seek, jintori game and jumping a long rope with all of my classmates. Also, I had the best friend who was 2 years older than me when I lived there. We always made some imaginary stories and talked about them when we went to school and went home. We lived in the same residential area, so we often were on visiting terms. Playing with my friends, that’s my favorite elementary school memory.

124

My favorite manga

My favorite manga is ONE PIECE. This manga is for boys but a lot of girls also like it. I am going to introduce the plot of ONE PIECE. The hero’s name of it is Monkey D Luffy. He is from a small village in East Blue. When he was a child, he ate the Gum-Gum fruit which is one of Devil fruits. Since then, his body became elastic like a gum. When he got 16 years old, he put out to sea by himself. Out of the village, there are so many enemies who are stronger than him. However, he became famous soon because he knocked them down wherever he went. Also, he gathers new crews. Luffy and his 9 companions became the Straw Hat Pirates. Their destination is making a round of Grand Line.

136

My favorite dessert

I am going to tell you about my favorite dessert. I love desserts. I think most of girls love them. My favorite dessert is crème brulee. I especially like the ones whose tops are crisp. They are kind of bitter but sweet and very delicious. I love them. One day, I went to a restaurant that we could eat all we wanted and it served crème brulee. That made me so happy. Of course I ordered it. I ate three or four, I think. I was full but I could eat those stuffs. I don’t know any sweet shops which serve crème brulee, so I need some information about it. I like Japanese sweets such as manju, dango, mochi too. I like azuki!!

123

My favorite color

My favorite colors are black, white, brown, pink and red. Basically I prefer colors which are suitable for fashion. Depending on a day, I put on different type’s clothes. Sometime I put on feminine clothes, on the other day I put on simple and cool clothes. I would like to be in various styles. That’s why I need a lot of clothes. I don’t have much money, so I always buy inexpensive and fashionable clothes. I usually choose useable colors’ clothes such as black, white, brown, khaki and gray. I like them, but I like pink and red too. When I buy some feminine clothes, I choose pink and red ones. I used to like vivid colors before, but I don’t now. I like pastel colors better.

My favorite star

I am going to tell you about my favorite movie star. I have some favorite movie stars but recently, I like Penelope Cruz. I have ever seen only one movie, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, of movies that she appears. When I saw it, I liked her because she was so sexy, cool and kind of mysterious. I would like to be sexy, cool and mysterious like her. I long for Latin women a little because I feel they look like sexy and mysterious. However, it is just an ideal. I don’t think I can be like a Latin beauty because I am a Japanese girl! Penelope appears Sex and the City2 and Pirates of the Caribbean 4, so I want to see them.

International Cocktail Party

Hello, my name is Sophie. I am from France. I am a director of some dramas and sitcoms. Recently, I made season 3 of the serial sitcom which is very popular in France. The plot is that an ordinary girl who dreams of being a big fashion model works hard in the strict fashion society while being worry about love, work and family. The highlight of this sitcom is the scene of real fashion show in Paris. I'm sure most of the viewers are interested in fashion, so they like this sitcom. That is a work worth doing because I can make them have fun.
I live in Paris with my husband, Napoleon. We have no kids but we have a very lovely poodle whose name is Marie. She is so pretty and gorgeous that she is our treasure. Her color is chocolate brown and she looks like a teddy bear. When I am tired, she comes to me and makes me feel better. Actually, she was a present from Napoleon. He and I really love her.
Napoleon is a police officer and my prince! We first met at a fashion show 3 years ago. I was there for making a sitcom and he was there in order to guard from dubious characters. On the day, a dubious man broke in the backstage and ran amuck. I fell in love with Napoleon who arrested in the act of the man.
I like going shopping and I often go to Louis Vuitton. Napoleon says he want to buy whatever I want for me but I usually buy something by myself. When I go to a clothing store, I always check what the latest fashion is because I made a sitcom about fashion.
What I hate are insects!!! I really really hate them. Why are they so disgusting? I like only lovely stuffs.

I washed the dishes after that, then, I watched a Japanese movie, Tenshi no koi, with Serena. I was moved to it but it was happy ending, so I was glad. I went to Clare with my family from the afternoon. I wanted a lot of new clothes but I couldn't find things that I liked. I found the shoose that I liked. It was dark brown. However, there was no one of my size. I really wanted it, so I disapointed that I couldn't buy it. I just bought a sweater in Clare. I ate Tappioka. I like going to TSUTAYA, so I spent time there. Oliver Twist

Oliver Twist
Charles Dickens
PENGUIN ACTIVE READING

This is kind of hard to read. It took a long time to read but I liked this story. Oliver Twist, how innocent and unlucky he is! In the scene that Oliver asked for more soup and the master took Oliver into a dark room, I felt like I wanted to save him from it! He was taken in by Mr. Sowerberry, however, Oliver was still unhappy and ran away. He joined in a gang of pickpockets. Then, he was involved in many trouble. Oh my gosh. Oliver Twist, his life was stormy! This story had a happy ending but I was excited until I read it out.

I have never ever imagined cats with wings like this story. They are very lovery. I felt that I wanted a catwing. There are so many stray cats around the world. Some cats live happily but some ones live in dirty and risky zones. The catwings were born in a danger city for kitties and they flew out it by their wings in order to live in a comfortable place. The states of catwings were vividly described and the pictures were beautiful, so I could easily imagine the scenery.
There were some difficult words that I didn' know but I could read it without a dictionary.

To have a dream is very good. However, people should not only dream but make some efforts, otherwise they can't get a happy life. Rick didn't make any efforts and he was just waiting for winning lotteries. It was natural that his girlfriend left him. Winning lotteries can make people
feel happy but it can't give real happy life to them. I like the end of this story.

I am going to tell you about last Saturday. I went to the international dorm in order to take part in the welcome party. I arrived there around 12:00. The exchange students were cooking. Mash potato, Korean food, pizza, Thai food and so on. I have already met the exchange students before that day, so I could talk with them easily. The new exchange students are Gen, Lexy, Jonah, Ian, Jordan, Clark, Pathorn, Ton and Yusen. (I think I made some spell mistakes.) They are kind of crazy but nice and funny. Ayano, Eri, Miku and Megumu also went to the dorm. We ate a lot of delicious food and took some pictures. I couldn't stay for much long time because I had to take one of my sister to a dentist by 15:00 but I had a very good time there. I am really looking forward to the English Weekend.

My favorite season

I like cold season better than hot season. If I compared summer with winter, I like winter but I especially like fall which begins to get cold. To tell the reason why I don't like hot season, I have two big reasons. First, I don't want to sweat. I don't want to get smell of sweat. The second reason is that I hate cockroaches. Every summer, they appear, so I am so afraid of them. They are so disgusting. I really hate them. In spring, it is warm and nice season but I have a hay fever. I am not suit for too cold season either, so I think fall is the best. However, I feel miserable because cool fall season is very short these days.

I am going to tell you about my favorite TV shows. I like Sekai Dangan Traveler, Sekai Marumie, The Best House, Sekai Fushigi Hakken and Ikegami Akira's Wakaru News. I especially like TV shows of travel such as Skai Dangan Traveler and Sekai Fushigi Hakken. They make me feel like I am traveling. I really want to go to a lot of countries, so they are very interesting for me. I also like foreign reality shows. I have ever seen Paris Hilton's New BFF, Shot at Love, The Island and so on. They are kind of silly but interesting. I often watch some music shows on a cable TV too. I like MTV the best. It's good to get information about music.

122

My favorite dish

I am going to tell you about my favorite dish. My favorite dish is pasta. I especially like peperoncino. There are a lot of Italian restaurants in Kumamoto such as Jolly Pasta, Pronto, Ninnikuya and Pissorino. I think peperoncino of Ninnikuya is the best of all but I seldom go there, so I often cook one at home. When I was in the high school age, I liked katsudon very much. I have ever eaten it four times a week. However, because of that, I have had enough. Then, I got to like pasta. Katsurestsu tei, a cutlet restaurant, has really delicious katsudon. I like it even now. I like shabu shabu too. I love MK restaurant. When I was a kid, I liked beafsteaks.

125

My favorite place

I am going to tell you about my favorite place. My favorite place is, of course, Tokyo Disney Resort. It is a dreamland. Not only can kids enjoy but also grown-up people can have a great time there. I love Disney, so I love to go there. However, it is in Chiba and it takes a lot of money, so I can't go there very often. I like both of Disney SEA and Disneyland but if I have to choose one of them, I think I will choose Disney SEA. I like the atmosphere of Disney SEA very much. Disney SEA at night is especially fantastic. Disney resort has many devices too. We can try to seek hiding Mickey's faces, also, we can enjoy various sounds, interesting names of streets and stores and so on.

135

My favorite book

I am going to tell you about my favorite book. My favorite book is Darren Shan. It is a fantasy story of vampires and being published serially. I have the third volume to the last one, the twelfth. When I was an elementary schoolchild, I really liked reading books. I often went to a library to borrow a book. One day, I borrowed the first volume of Darren Shan. Once I had started reading it, I could not stop it. It was so interesting that I had read through for a few hours. I could borrow the second one the other time but I decided to buy the series from the third one. The movie was shown this year and I saw it. I like the original of Darren Shan but I don't like the movie.

The Princess Diaries

The Princess Diaries
Meg Cabot
ISBN 978-4-89684-448-1

'You're not Mia Thermopolis any more, honey,' Dad said. I raised my head. 'I'm not?' I said, blinking. 'Then who am I?' He went, kind of sadly, 'You're Amelia Mignonette Grimaldi Thermopolis Renaldo, Princess of Genovia.'

I have ever seen the movie before, so I was interested in this oridinal book. It was not so difficult to read but there were so many slangs and spoken words like young people often use. I enjoyed reading it because I could know how young people spoke!
This story was written by a first person narrative and diary style. That's why, It was easy to put my feeling into Mia. It was very interesting. I could go on reading rapidly.

Best Kid (The Karate Kid)

Best Kid (The Karate Kid)(2010/ the U.S.)
Directed by Harald Zwart
Starring Jaden Smith, Jackie Chan
my review ★★★★★
Kung fu is so cool! I liked this movie. Jaden was very cute! He has amazing abilities. I thought his acting ability was great and his Kung fu movement was natural. Also, he can dance and sing rap music! I cherish hopes for his future. I like Jackie's part, Mr. Han. At first sight, he looked timid, tired and old man but actually he was very great at Kung fu. How cool! He had a sad past but through the communication with Dre, not only Dre but Mr. Han also could be positive. The story was great too. I'd like to see again. However, I really wanted to see it in English with Japanese subtitle. Why was there no that one? That was only one thing that I was not satisfied.

SALT

SALT(2010/the U.S.)
Directed by Phillip Noyce
Starring Angelina Jolie
my review ★★★★

I was very excited. Angelina was so cool! So sexy! So tough! The part was exactly right for her. I didn't think that the action looked possible for women, though. The story was like ordinary as a spy movie but it had a new turn that I was kind of surprised. It was a interesting movie but I felt gloomy at the ending. Does it have a continuation?

Trip to Thailand ~2nd day 2.

We went to some shopping malls, Paragon and MBK, after the sight of Chulalongkorn Uni. Haruna and I bought some CDs because we can get them at a lower price than Japan.
Kie took us to Naraya, a bag shop. She said that most of Japanese girls liked the shop.

Then, we had dinner at Yum Saap. It was a Thai food restaurant. Kie's the other friend joined us there. I ordered green chicken curry. It was kind of hot but delicious. We shared some other foods like Tom yum goong, Pad Thai, Som tam. They were so good. I especially liked Pad Thai.
I couldn't eat any Thai foods before, but now, I can enjoy eating them! That's a good thing, don't you think so?
After having dinner, we moved to the food court in order to eat some desserts! I like coconuts, so I ate like shaved ice with coconut milk. Haruna and I really liked it. I also tried to eat Sticky rice and durians with coconut milk. Well, it was interesting. I thought it better be without durians.
After that, we went back home by taxi.
Haruna and I could have really happy time with Kie and her friends that day. We were so tired but very excited.
Thanks so much, Kie! I hope we can see again!

Trip to Thailand ~2nd day 1.

I got up arond 8:00 and Kie came to my grandma's house around 9:00, I think. We had breakfast there. Kie and I had made a promise we saw in Thailand. We picked Haruna up with us.

We caught a taxi and went to Temple of the Emerald Buddha at first. It had a very strict dress code. Unable to enter the temple with revealing clothes. I was wearing a short culotte, so I put on denim leggings which I brought before we enter it. However, tight one is not allowed either. In addition, not torn jeans, flashy jeans, flip-flops and so on. Because my denim leggings was tight, I worried about that but finally I could go inside without any warnings.

Kie explained about various things like "this is blah blah blah, that is blah blah blah," and I thought she was a very good guide. She told us a story painted on the walls. It was interesting.

After we went out the temple, we walked around a hawker center (yatai). It was very hot, so we bought only water bottles and moved to the next place by a taxi.

Which we left for was Chulalongkorn University-Kie's school! The uni was really really big!!! There were three big parts and we went to only one of them, departments of literature and engineering, maybe. I met Kie's friends. Some of them could speak Japanese and was interested in Japan. I was glad to meet them.
Hoi (maybe...I don't know her spell) was one of Kie's friends. To my joy, she came with us. Kie and Hoi showed over their school for Haruna and I.
To my surprise, bus service was on the campus! Exactly. Bus service is important for students because the uni is so big! We took a bus and made a round of the uni (but not all).

Trip to Thailand ~1st day

I went to Thailand with Haruna, a sister of mine, last week.

We left Kotsu Center at 7:35 and got to Fukuoka airport around 10:00. We were sleeping on the bus.

At 11:45, we left for Thailand. I enjoyed my flight because I could see some movies such asValentine's Day.

The plane arrived in Bangkok around 15:00 Thai time but a lot of people had lined up to enter the country and it took an hour to pass the entry gate. Emina, Koyo, my uncle and Grandma came for us at the airport. Emina and Koyo are my sister and brother. They had already left from Japan last month. We planed to go back together.

We, sisters and brother, stayed with my uncle and Grandma that day. We ate Khao man kai for dinner.

I took this photo at dinner time.
Koyo(green t-shirt), Emina(a little girl in her arms), Haruna(invisivle lol) and our second cousins.

Tales of Princess Narisa ~chapter 4

The next day, while the dwarfs were out working, Narisa stayed at home and cooked a raspberry pie for them. "The dwarfs all asked me to go, but I can't. I'm not suitalbe for him." Narisa is sick of love.

Then, she heard that animals made noise from outside. "What happened?" Narisa rushed out of the house, an old woman was crouching on a stump.

"I feel sick, so I can't walk anymore. Um, can I take some water, lady?" the old woman said.
"Oh, sure. Let me take it." Narisa gave a glass of water to the old woman.
"Thank you so much. I feel better." The old woman exactly looked better. "Your welcome."
"Oh, what a kind lady you are! I'd like to thank you for your kindness. Actually, I am a witch. I can grant your request. So, what is your request, lady?"
Narisa was surprised at what she said. "You can grant whatever I want!? Oh, well, I want to go to a dance party at the palace tonight! I don't have any dresses which suit for parties."
"I see! All right, let me grant it!"

Kumamoto castle (Rewrited)

Kumamoto castle The most famous place in Kumamoto is Kumamoto castle.Kumamoto castle is one of three famous castles. The others are Osaka castle and Nagoya castle. Kumamoto castle has two castle towers, 49 high wooden stages, 18 tower gates and 29 castle gates on the vast premises-as wide as 21 Tokyo domes. Kiyomasa Kato designed Kumamoto castle and it was completed in 1607. In 1873, the Seinan war happened. Kumamoto castle was attacked by the forces which Takamori Saigo headed for 50 days. However, about 3400 samurai protected it against them.In other words, Kumamoto castle is very resistant to wars. However, Tenshukaku and Honmarugoten were burned in the war. That's why they were rebuilt in the present age. Kumamoto castle was surrounded by stonewalls which are called Mushagaeshi. Mushagaeshi means "turn over a samurai". The more someone climbed it, it is more sharpness. That's why the stone wall is called like that. Mushagaeshi is built in order to protect from someone's invasion. It also can avoid the ground is collapsed. In Kumamoto, there is the other Musha-gaeshi too. It is also the name of a sweet snack. It looks like a pie and has azuki beans inside. Mushagaeshi, a sweet azuki pie which is associated with the stone wall of Kumamoto castle, is sold at Kobai, a sweets shop. When you visit Kumamoto castle, please remember this story.

1192 Imaginary country 3

Let me tell you about the national bird and flower of Iri Jaya. First, I'll introduce Potcham, the national bird. Potchams are birds which can not fly. Their feathers are blue and white. Their bills and legs are orange. They look like penguins but they can't swim at all. They just toddle. That is so pretty and lovely that many Iri Jayan people love them. But potchams can run fast when they are found by a national enemy. The national enemy is a cat. Potchams are small birds and they can't fly, so it is easy to catch them for cats. In order to run from cats, they have to run fast. The law forbids someone to catch a potcham, but you can go to Iri Jayan national park. You can see wild potchams there.
Next, I'd like to tell you about colormul, the national flower. colormuls are very beautiful and colorful flowers. But, the smell is so bad. They smell like poo. That's why nobody walks up to them.
A lot of kind of potcham's and colormul's goods are sold in Iri Jaya, so if you like them, you can buy them as souvenirs from Iri Jaya. I'd recommend stuffed toy potchams and colormul's accessories.

1192 Imaginary country 2

I'll introduce the official language of Iri Jaya. The population of Iri Jaya is 50 millions. They can speak both English and Iri Jayan. But most of Iri Jayan people use only Iri Jayan. They don't need to speak English except when they talk with foreigners. Iri Jayan grammar is similar to English. That's why it is easy to study English for Iri Jayan people.
Now, I'll introduce Iri Jayan languages. "Medger" means "Hello." This word is very useful because it is used whenever people greet. They use it in the mornings, noon, afternoon and at nights. Every time. It's really useful. Don't you think so? And then, "Ja medger" means "Good bye." Ja is good, so if you want to say "Good night," you can say "Ja nike."
"Thank you" is "Runjew," "Your welcome" is "Yam wellem," "Sorry" is "Jerry" and "OK" is "Jakkie." They sound like English.
If you want to study Iri Jayan, you should go to Iri Jaya and stay with the local people. You can learn real Iri Jayan and you can also learn interesting Iri Jayan cultures.

Skinny mannequins renew “too thin” debate

Being as you are is the best
People should accept their figures as they are. People should not criticize “too thin.” Being “too thin” is not a problem. The problem is being anorexia. There are many skinny people by nature in the world. Most of them want to get weight because they don’t want to be considered anorexia. But it is hard for them to get weight. On the other hand, people in fashion industry, especially in France, make models think that being skinny is the best. Models who are not skinny by nature try to lose weight. As a result, most of models get to be anorexia. I watched Isabelle Caro who was anorexia on a TV show quite recently. She is one of the victims of fashion industry. In 2006, Governments of Italy and Spain forbade too thin models to take part in runway shows. However, the law seems to say being skinny is bad. Models who are skinny by nature lost their jobs. In order to solve this problem, fashion industry better produce various clothes anyone can put on. It is important to increase the variation of clothing sizes. In stores, they should not put only skinny mannequins but they also should put mannequins of standard proportions and plump ones. If people who are in fashion industry made up the beauty point of each proportion such as standard, plump and skinny, all people can have confidences of our own figures.

Tales of Princess Narisa ~chapter 3

Prince Justin found a girl who was singing and dancing with cute animals. The girl was Narisa. He talked to her when she finished singing and dancing. "Shall we dance?"
Narisa was surprised but she danced with him. Birds are singing for them. The sun streaming through the leaves of trees shined on them.

They talked while dancing. "Can I ask your name?" Prince Justin said. "Um, my name is Narisa. I live with kind dwarfs and my these lovery friends in this forest. And... you?" "My name is Justin. A prince of this kingdom." Narisa was so surprised. She thought she was not good enough for him. "Prince!? Oh my gosh! You are the prince!" "Don't care about that. You can just care for Justin."

Prince Justin wanted to be with Narisa longer but his horse wanted to go back to the palace because it was very hungry. Suddenly his horse ran away!
"Huh!? Oh!! Heeey!!! Come back!! Oh, oh my gosh!" Prince Justin started running after his horse. "I'm very sorry!! I have to go!!!"

Prince Justin shouted while running and seeing Narisa. "Um, I, I'm very glad to meet you! And...ah, yeah, I have a ball for choosing the bride at my castle tomorrow night! And I want you to come!" "What!?" "Please come! At 9!!" shouted he and went away.

The other exchange students, Carly, Robert, Bill, Kie, Emma and Toby also seemed glad. We're really glad they liked it. And then, we took pictures. They invited us to go for a dinner at Gust together, so we decided to go with them. They went there by bicycles and we drove by my car. A car took longer than bicycles. We

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
Mark Twain Retold by John Votaw
PENGUIN READERS LEVEL 3
0-582-42050-4
Huck and Jim travel down the Mississippi from St. Petersburg toCairo. Jim is a runaway slave so they have to be careful. They have a lot ofadventures on the river. They even meet a king! But is he real? Huck soon findsout the truth.

Huck was so brave. I was moved. In the age, to save slaves was a big sin, so running with Jim was a very big problem. Why did Huck save Jim? I think one of the reasons is that Huck leads a free and uninhibited life. He thinks formal clothes, manners and studying are boring. He doesn't fit a pattern of white society. That's why he could be able to be a friend with Jim.
I watched The Adventures of Huck Finn, a Disney's film, at history of American literature class. I really liked it, so I read this book.

Except them, I like The Devil Wears Prada, The Sound of Music, Annie, Mr. Bean and so on. Mr. bean is so funny.

Tales of Princess Narisa ~chapter 2

When Narisa woke up, seven dwarfs and some lovery animals were staring at her. "Hey, where did you come from?" one of the dwarfs who wears glasses said. "Oh, my name is Narisa. I came far from here. I don't know where I should go." Narisa told them the reason why she run from her home.

"Oh, then, you can stay with us," "Yeah, you stay here!" "Hey, can you cook? We all are not good at cooking, so if you can, we are really welcome to you!" the dwarfs severally said. "Yes, I can cook for you. Oh, thank you very much for letting me stay here!"

Narisa, the seven dwarfs and animals were living happily. One day, Narisa went gathering berrys with lovery animals. She was singing while picking raspberrys. Some cute birds sang in her chorus.

Her singing voice carried prince Justin who visited the forest at the same time. He reined in his horse. "Who is singing? What a beautiful voice." He rode on horseback and found Narisa.

The Nanny Diaries (revised)

The Nanny Diaries
It is important to know who you are, what you really want to do, and which way you should choose. Today, there are many young people who don’t know them. I am also one of them. I hope to work using English, but I don’t know what kind of job exactly.
Annie enters a graduate school at the end of the movie. After graduating from it, probably she will work at a museum or be a scholar of anthropology with putting her experience as a nanny. As her mother says, it is terribly hard to make a living in this world. Being an office worker seems better. She will get stable income. Even though, it may be boring for her. She could choose such a way if she would like to.
In fact, there is no guarantee that anyone can get a job such that they want. According to the media, the number of young women who just want to be housewives and don’t want to get a job is increasing. They seem to give up making efforts to get a job. They just try to choose an easy way. Housekeeping is never easy, indeed, but if they didn’t make effort to get a job at all, they would have remained to know nothing about their selves.Like Annie, people who just want to be housewives should try to do something helpful to let them know their-selves.

Mr.Bean

Mr. Bean is sleeping.
The alarm clock started ringing.
But he took hold of the alarm and put it into a glass with water without waking up.
And then… a tea maker has just started.
A hose, an attachment for the tea maker, stretches to his feet.
Steam spouted from the hose and splashed on his feet.
But He blocked the exit of it by using his big toe.
And he kept sleeping.
An hour later, it’s 8:53.
He got up, and he is making his bed.
He is sleepwalking… and he bumped into the wall, then, he is wide awake.
He sat on his bed and he is putting on his slippers.
He walked to the window and opened curtains.
He is doing morning exercise.
And then, he started shaving.
His nose hairs caught in the shaver.
He took out a pair of scissors from the cabinet, and cut his nosehairs to free himself.
After that, he opened a dresser, picked out a suit, and took it off the dress hanger.
On the hanger has the picture of a mouth and “9:00”.
Mr. Bean hung out the alarm clock that he put into water to dry.
And… he found the note and he has just remembered that he has to go to a dentist at 9:00.
He is getting flustered.
He grabbed his clothes up, and he rushed away.
But… he has come back to his room tiptoeing, put a quilt over his sweet teddy bear.
And, He left the room again.

Mr. Bean came outside. He is running.
He threw his clothes and shoes into a car.
He picked a brick up and got into the car.
He took off his pajama top and he is changing into a shirt while driving.
He turned the handle quickly because the car was going to run off the road.
He put the brick on the accelerator instead of using his foot, then, he moved to the rear seat.
He started driving with his feet while he was changing into his pants.
After going back to the driver’s seat, he put on his shoes.
The car is running around a rotary over and over again.
He tries to put toothpaste on his toothbrush, but it falls on the dashboard so he scrapes it up with his toothbrush.
Also, he started brushing his teeth while looking at a side mirror.
He rinsed out his mouth by water from the wiper and spit it out.
It splashed on the lower back of a road worker.
The road worker wiped it and sniffed at it because he thought it was bird droppings.
Mr. Bean moved another car out of the parking space and parked his car there and got out of his car.
A female police officer is staring at him.
He saw his pajama were showing from his zipper.
He pulled them out and put it in an opening of the car window.
Then, he zipped up the pants while looking at her face.
He pretended nothing happened.

He arrived at the dentist office.
He sat down in the dentist's chair.
He pushed the button which operated the chair while a dentist preparing.
However, the dentist didn't notice about it.
When he returned the real position, the dentist faced him.
The dentist began to clean his teeth with a suction tube.
After that, he began to use it by himself secretly.
He cleaned his cheek and he sucked up his tongue with it.
After that, he began to clean his jacket with it.
However, the dentist didn't notice it.
He sucked up the dentist’s tea with it.
The dentist faced to him and he noticed his tea had disappeared.
So the dentist doubted Mr. Bean.
After that, the dentist gave him an injection.
After that, Mr. Bean played the injection while the dentist wasn’t looking.
He gave the dentist's leg the injection by mistake.
The injection was anesthetic.
So the dentist's leg went to sleep and he fell down at last.
Mr. Bean was obliged to fix up his tooth by himself.
He looked at the X-ray and he began to drill the tooth.
After he finished fixing, he noticed that the X-ray was reversed.
So he repeated the fix.
However, he realized the X-ray was reversed again.
So he didn't know, so he fixed all of his front teeth.
But His jaws were pasted together and he couldn't open his mouth.
When he was impatient about it, the dentist stood up.
So he was so surprised that he could open his mouth at last.
The dentist was so angry.

Tales of Princess Narisa (fiction) ~chapter 1

Once apon a time, there was a very very beautifull and sexy princess who named Narisa. She lived with Justin, a very hondsome prince, in palace. She, however, had been an ordinary girl.
She used to live with her good father, mean stepmother and big sister-in-law. Her father was very gentle, but he was sick and died when she was 12. After that, her stepmother and the sister dealt with Narisa as a slave because they envied her for her beauty.
One day, she escaped from them. She ran to a forest. She headed to deep inside the forest , then, she found a small lovery house. "Hello, is anybody here?" She nocked the door, but there was no answer. She was pretty tired, so she slept in front of the door.

The most fearful thing

The most fearful thing happened when I went to Thailand last summer. My family and I went to Pattaya and we rode elephants. It was sunny at first, however, it started raining when we tried to ride elephants. I think it was a squall. It was a very heavy rain and it started thundering! I was so afraid of falling on us. But, elephant trainers said "mypenlai," it means "No problem". In Japan, people in service industry, like elephant rider, will stop because it is the most important to save lives.

King Donkey Ears

King Donkey Ears

This story is actually a continuation of King Midas and the Gold. King Midas and King who has donkey ears are the same king. I read the story recently but I didn't know that.
King Midas was asked to judge a competition between a musician and the god Apollo. King Midas declared the musician the winner - and even said he was the better player. Apollo was so angry, he gave King Midas donkey's ears.
The King Midas was modeled on King Midas who really existed in the 10th B.C. That is so interesting. I didn't get what was a lesson from King Donkey Ears but I learned it as I knew these two stories were closely related. I think they told us to be always generosity to everybody. If we forgave for someone who made a mistake or something, we could feel comfortable.

About blogging

I have a blog except the English one. I started it in April last year but I hardly update it these days because it is kind of troublesome. I used to update diaries on my homepage very often when I was a high school student. Most of high school students had their own homepages then. I like seeing blogs of my friends. I can know what they did on their weekend. It is interesting. Blogging is kind of troublesome for me but I have to post to my English blog more and more.

What I hate is...

What I really hate are cockroaches!!! To get hotter, they appear in my house. One night, I was entering into my room, and I turned on the light, it was there!!!!! I screamed. It went behind a chest of wearing. It was around 11:30 o'clock. My father came to my room, but he just scored me and said, "You do not scream! Do you know what time it is? I'll go to bed, you should sleep any other rooms." He went to bed with leaving me alone. "Oh no, what should I do? I can't see it. Nobody helps me. I can't sleep in this room but I can't leave it." But finally, I killed it by using a insecticide. The next morning, one of my sister picked it up, and I cleaned my room.

It's no fun living in a shoe when you have as many children as this old woman. She needs to find a bigger home - and fast.

The old woman was great! I think the children were adopted. How gentle she was. It is hard to raise the naughty children, but she loved them. By the way, I would like to know why they lived in a shoe. She got a bigger shoe who a giant had at the end. I wonder if it didn't stink. It was a interesting story.

The Emperor's New Clothes

The emperor loves clothes and his new clothes are the best yet. What's more, they're invisible to anyone stupid. So the emperor is a little worried that he can't actually see them himself...

What a poor emperor! I laughed. He liked clothes very much and people praised him, but I wonder if they told the truth. I don't think that he had a sense of beauty. Who on earth wants to put magical clothes? Not me. Magical clothes!? It sounds too strange. Why all of the people believed it even they could not see it? I think men of today never believe it. This is a "story", so it's OK. Slimus and Slick were clever. They were lucky. Good (!?) job.

Also, I really want to study English in Canada.

Yuki's best memory is when she made a very big okonomiyaki, went to karaoke with Rie, and staying with her.

The most important invention

There are a lot of convenient things such as cars, airplanes, ships, refrigerators, TV, phone, air conditioners, computers, washing machines in present-day life. We men of today consider them ordinary because they are near to ourselves. These inventions are very convenient and important but I think that ships are the most important invention of all. First, we can transport large quantities of loads. Each different country trades. Trade is necessary. Japan particularly needs to import food because food self-sufficient rate in Japan is row. Ships are useful to transport big and heavy things such as cars too. If we use airplanes, we can transport quickly but we can’t use them to transport lots of big and heavy things, so ships are the best way to trade. Second, long-distance transport is possible. When there were no ships, people walked and rode hoses to move from place to place and they could not cross over the sea. That’s why people only knew their different land, a part of earth. It takes a long time to sail but ships can stop countries and islands easier than airplanes. Third, human history was produced by development ships. This is the most important point. Judging by the history, human beings have used ships since long time ago. On and after being invented first ships, human beings use them in various cases. For trade, war, voyage, emigration and so on. Without ships, human society could not development. These are the reasons why I think ships are the most important invention.

Differences of a giving culture between Japan and Western countries
When you get a gift from someone, you must be happy. However, it is better for you to know foreign cultures because there are a lot of differences of a giving culture between Japan and Western countries. First, Japanese people don’t get and open a gift immediately. On the contrary, Western people get it without objecting and they open it immediately. Most of Japanese people think it is a virtue to decline the gift at first and get it finally because they don’t like greed. Second, people always wrap gifts up whatever small gifts they are, who repay in Japan but Western people do not always do that. I think that Japanese people feel it is important to show the other their modest attitudes. Third, in Japan, there is a custom of giving souvenirs to people other than their family and friends when they travel. The reason why they would like the others to have the experience of the trip or that they would like to show their gratitude. However, it is hard to buy a lot of souvenirs because they have to pay much money and time to choose. That’s why I think the custom is good but kind of trouble. If you have a chance to give a gift to a foreigner, please remember differences of a giving culture between Japan and Western countries like these.

The U.S. government should not spend more money on space programs.

Recently, space technology in the U.S. has got more advanced. In my opinion, I don’t think the U.S. should spend more money on space programs. First, they already have enough space technologies such as space satellites, spaceships, cosmic rockets and so on. They don’t need any more technologies. They are sure to be able to predict a collision with meteorites and protect earth from them. Secondly, it is not necessary to build a space station. We don’t have to go to space because we human beings live on the earth. Going to space involves many risks. Finally, they should spend more money on the other things. To give some examples, economic measures, social security, environmental problems and so on. There are many other problems I think these things should take priority over the space programs. Space programs are not as important as problems on earth. That’s why I don’t agree that the U.S. government should spend money on space programs.

Ways to prevent chapped hands

When it gets cold and dry, people’s hands tend to get dry and chapped. In bad cases, people whose hands are chapped can’t use them because of the pain. There are some ways to prevent chapped hands. First, apply hand cream to your hands frequently, even when is not cold. Your hands are so dry after washing them that you should apply hand cream then in particular. You should moisturize them. Second, cut down on using soap when you wash your hands as much as possible. Because they are made from chemical matter and they take moisture from your skin, which is not so good for skin. If you care about washing your hands with soap, you can use baby soap or natural soap. Third, put gloves on when your hands are numb with cold and when you ride a bike or motorcycle. In addition, you should wear rubber gloves when you wash dishes. They can protect your hands from dish washing liquid. In this way you can prevent chapped hands.

I’m an American Idol !!!

I’m an American idol now. When I was 25 years old, I emigrated to America in order to make my debut there. I contracted with a record company and debuted. The next year, I became a popular singer. Now I’m sooo busy. I usually work at a TV station and a studio of the record company I contract with. I also work at home in order to write lyrics. On Mondays, I record music on tape whole a day. On Tuesdays, I give an interview in the morning and I have my photo taken for magazines in the afternoon. Wednesdays are the busiest day. I move from place to place in order to appear on TV shows. The TV shows are broadcast on Friday nights and Monday nights. I always watch them and find points I should reflect on. I also have a TV recording on Thursday but it’s not so hard for me because I just have to sit and talk. Sometimes I can see famous people such as Mariah Carey, Utada, and Madonna, at the TV station. From Friday to Sunday, I have my live concerts. I’m really excited every time. Thanks to the support from my fans, I can enjoy singing. I’m going to give a concert in Japan one of these days. I’m an American idol but I’d like to debut in Japan too.

Happy Life in Canada with My Family
I have a happy life. I’m in 34 years old now. I live in Canada with my family and work at Vancouver International Airport. I’m in charge of “Air Canada” and “Japan Air Line”.
I have two daughters who go to elementary school and kinder garden. Because they speak Japanese at home, and English at school, they can speak both Japanese and English. The oldest is 7 years old. Her name is Clare. She likes dancing and listening to music, so she dances with her friends everyday. My second daughter is 4 years old, Reira. She likes pretty, shiny, fluffy things. Yes, she likes princesses. She wants to be a princess like Cinderella. Names of Clare and Reira are easy to say for people who speak English. Moreover, they are Japanese names too, so if they go back to Japan, they can use them.
My husband is a famous photographer who travels around the world. His name is Ren. He works at a fashion magazine and takes photographs of models. We have lived in Canada for 3 years. We are going to go back to Japan and staying there during the summer vacation. I’m looking forward to seeing my family and friends in Japan. When we go back to Japan, I’d like to tell them, “I lead a happy life in Canada with my family!!”
